siegheil_neocon asked:

I went to Cabela’s recently and did some research by browsing the sections.

I would have to purchase a Remington hunting rifle (probably model 700 with a better quality scope) and correct ammo to pass the hunter ed course to receive a license, but I need to figure out the wear and equipment for wilderness exploring and successful hunting. Please correct the listing with the additional items for a good hunting experience without obstacle and confusion.

Camo jacket and pant (thicker for winter, lighter for spring/summer), shooting gloves, hunting boots with outdoor socks, cap or wool hat, expedition compass watch, binocular/spotting scope, camo backpack (e.g. Camelbak Ranger with hydration), large game bag, rope to drag hunted deer, measuring weight and points, knifes for field dressing, ration & instant warming kits, optional gps device, optional digital camera…

During the winter, is it wise to wear the bright orange vest and/or cap to warn other hunters nearby?
rancy c, LOL. I said “optional” gps, I’ve seen the expensive brands like Garmin eTrex Vista HCX. I don’t mean to list every thing that I intend to buy, just trying to get down to basics. I dunno if a binocular is necessary at all. 1st I pass hunter ed course and practice rifle shooting in hundreds of rounds at outdoors range then I will get hand on it, and I will contact a fellow hunter to join the expedition. It’ll take a few months before I’m ready, so it’s best to prepare with some experience gained before progressing on to big game (if lucky to win in lottery) in a few years if I stick with it.

Caffeinated Content for WordPress

Niagra Falls. Bryce Canyon. Mount Fuji. If you have ever laid eyes on such monuments to Mother Nature, you know what a “grand view” is. And so it is in the spirit of these natural wonders and the myriad others we encounter every day – inanimate and animate, great and small – that Orion presents an instrument designed for their appreciation. The GrandView 100mm spotting scope features big optics for big, bold views, whatever your viewing target. The multi-coated 100mm achromatic objective lens delivers exceptional resolution in full daylight or dim twilight. The eyepiece, set at a 45? angle on the prism housing, zooms continuously from 20x to 60x magnification, providing tremendous imaging versatility. With a field of view ranging from 1.67? at 20x to 1.0? at 60x, and eye relief from 18mm to 15mm, respectively, the GrandView is a pleasure to look through.Internal glare-threading and baffling ensure great contrast, and an extendable lens shade eliminates extraneous glare. The one-finger focus wheel keeps images sharp. Mount the scope on any sturdy tripod via the 1/4″-20 mounting block, which is attached to a rotatable collar. So step up from a good view to a GrandView and see nature in all its glory! Weighs 4lbs., 14 oz. Includes rugged carrying case.

The ATS/STS 80 (HD) observation telescopes set the highest standards among telescopes in this category. Even with the easy-to-handle fully rubberized armoring, the ATA/STS 80 (HD) are by far the lightest of the larger observation telescopes. Thanks to a recalculated optical system, they offer a precise observation of detail, optimum edge-to-edge images and almost 100 percent color fidelity with an extremely wide field of view, thereby achieving a revolutionary image quality.

Look there! Perched on that Mexican pinon tree across the arroyo. Is that a red-tailed hawk or a red-shouldered hawk? Binoculars aren’t helpful; this bird is too far away. What you need is the magnifying power of the stout Arcadia Zoom spotting scope. If 20x won’t cut it, 60x will! This spotting scope is not only well made, but also falls in one sweet spot of a price range compared to other spotting scopes its size. Look what you get: quality all-aluminum construction, fully coated optics, superior roof-prism design, 20x to 60x continuous zoom ability, and a big 78mm objective lens for bright, high-resolution images. The slide-out glare shield improves contrast on bright days. What’s even more unique about this spotting scope is its stay-on, view-through case. You can observe without removing the case. Whether you’re checking out mallards, mule deer, or just enjoying a mountain tableau, the Arcadia can get you as up-close as you want!
